Monday Morning in Shepherdstown

Spending the morning and much of the day in Shepherdstown, mostly at the radio studio. Sat in on Janet Harrison and John. Case's poetry radio show. After breakfast at Betty's Diner I will be the guest on Fanny Crawfords Show about Story Telling.

Right now I'm feeling good, feeling like our resistance to the Creep is off to a very fast and very strong start.

The Women's March was incredibly heartening. The crowds were huge--4 million people--the largest demonstration in American history.

The march or marches were such a wonderful way for us and our nation to begin the Trump term.

The marches were full of some of the characteristics of movement--spontaneity and creativity. The signs and posters were so very creative and the genesis of it all was so spontaneous.

The American People reject the orange orangutan.

Democratic Senators have bested Trumps appointees over and over.

By himself John Lewis completely took any credibility that Trump might have had.

I'm told the intelligence agencies have very damning info against Trump.

Our Resustance will be hard. Trump is very serious, but we have the will and the numbers.

Si se puede!!!!

The Real Dr. King

It is critically important in these days of struggle that will continue to intensify to recall that the real Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was not just a dreamer that so many in the corporate media would have you believe.

Dr. King was a nonviolent warrior for justice and freedom for everyone. Every where. Dr. King went he challenged the existing racist and repressive order. He led marches, demonstrations, rallies, picket lines, strikes. He preached in churches.

Dr. King went to jail for all of us.

Over and over again Dr. King fought for civil rights and economic rights and peace and justice.

Today let us remember that. Dr. King said it does no good to win the right to sit at a lunch counter if you can't afford Puzder's hamburger.

Dr. King was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee as he stood on the balcony of the Lorraine Hotel watching my dear Brother James. Orange wrestle with James Bevel in the parking lot.

Dr. King and James and the rest of the leadership team were in Memphis to support sanitation workers who were on strike for the right to have a union and the fundamental right to negotiate with management over wages, hours and conditions of work.

Dr. King literally gave his life for the working poor, for economic justice , for civil rights for a all, for our labor movement, for those Jesus once called "the least of these."

Searches for words raw and strong

To call the soul to its human duty

To pull you and me

Into today's fray

For justice that we may

Join the long line of the many

Who made their sacrifice in their day

For life and liberty and Justice realized fully

Our Resistance

Our Fight to Save Obamacare

I just read an article by Nobel Laureate and NYTimes columnist Paul Krugman about the GOP being willing to repeal .Obamacare without a replacement.

Because now 30 million Americans receive get their health insurance from elements of Obamacare and because both coverage of adult children and no pre- existing conditions are so popular, the fascists have backed themselves into a hot , messy corner.

Obamacare is very controversial--Except for its Elements.

The fascists' opposition to Obamacare created the internal necessity to destroy it--despite it's Very Popular Elements.

Because so much of the coverage of Obamacare comes through. Medicaid, the destruction of Obamacare is an Attack on Medicare.

Congressional Democrats must fight the fascists by focussing on the popular elements of the policy.

The intended destruction of Obamacare is An Attack on Medicaid.

Our Resistance 202-224-3121

Thank God that Sen. Cory Booker of. New Jersey is planning to speak out and actively oppose the nomination of Jeff Sessions.

It is time for us all to call both our senators and tell them to oppose racist Jeff Sessions for Attorney General.

That is the Capitol switchboard. Call and ask for your senators.

Unfortunately, Democrstic Senators are loathe to oppose another senator up for an appointment.
